Netflix has recently announced a new spinoff of “Sabrina the Teenage Witch,” set to be released October 26th, 2018, called “The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.” Although it follows the same main character, it strays far from the original and live action versions. The Netflix original is already gaining profuse attention after only having one trailer released. This Archie Comics spin-off series hails from the same producer (J.B. Moranville) of “Riverdale,” another spin-off show. Moranville took the same route style-wise with both of these series, taking them from “innocent comic” to “murder mystery-turned love story-turned chilling thriller.” “The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” tells the story of Sabrina Spellman, played by Keirnan Shipka, a half-witch, half-mortal girl. From what is inferred from the new trailer, this series is going to be a far cry from it’s squeaky clean counterparts, “Sabrina and the Groovie Goolies” or “Sabrina the Teenage Witch.” The darker take on Sabrina is reminiscent of the 90’s icon, “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” and people couldn’t be more eager for the new series.
