On September 14, Universal Studios kicked off their annual Halloween Horror Nights event at their theme parks around the globe that will run through November 3, just in time to get some good scares in before Halloween. At Halloween Horror Nights, Universal Studios sets up scare zones where cast members openly walk around attempting to scare attendees. Scare Zones of previous years have included a zone inspired by the hit horror movie franchise “The Purge” as well as an extraterrestrial-centric zone. Also, the parks set up their own houses inspired by different intellectual properties. Past years have included houses inspired by Guillermo Del Toro’s 2015 film “Crimson Peak” and the massively-popular AMC TV series “The Walking Dead.” This year’s big name haunted houses are “Stranger Things,” “Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers,” “Poltergeist,” “Trick ‘r Treat,” and “The Horrors of Blumhouse.” The haunted houses not inspired by a film or TV show include “Slaughter Sinema” and “Seeds of Extinction.” This year’s scare zones include “Revenge of Chucky,” “Killer Klowns From Outer Space,” and “The Harvest.” Ticket prices range from $62.99 (with tax) to $95.99 (with tax) if you order them online. Gate prices for the event start at $114.99 per night. On-Site hotel offers start at $136 per night and the Hotel & Ticket Package starts at $215 per adult, per night. The package includes four-night hotel accommodations, three-park, two-day park-to-park tickets with two days free. This package also includes a one-night admission to Halloween Horror Nights. It should be noted that there is a disclaimer on the Halloween Horror Nights website that reads “EVENT MAY BE TOO INTENSE FOR YOUNG CHILDREN AND IS NOT RECOMMENDED FOR CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 13. NO COSTUMES OR MASKS ALLOWED.”
