You’ve heard of the movement to save the turtles, right? Of course you have! 

But the new trend is one started by Youtubers, not TikTok stars. Mr. Beast started this movement after posting his video, “Planting 20,000,000 Trees, My Biggest Project Ever!”, where he endorses this new charity. #teamtrees was formed and launched publicly on October 25th, 2019. Mr. Beast and teamed up with the Arbor Day Foundation with the promise that with every dollar donated, a tree will be planted.

After Mr. Beat’s first video, the donations sky rocketed. It first started with participations from other large youtubers, from Pewdiepie to Jeffree, Youtubers each posted their own videos to support the cause. 

This was all fine and dandy, until Mr. Beast took to twitter. This si what started it all, when Mr. Beast tweeted at ELON MUSK and asked him to beat his top spot. At that point, Mr. Beast had kept the top spot for most donations at 100,00. Then the Elon Musk himself said ‘bet’ and ended up donating 1,000,000 trees. Wow. This man does not play around. 

As the year comes to a close the #teamtrees foundation wants to achieve their goal of having 20 million trees planted around the world by January 1st, 2020.
