Harper Carstens is a senior at Heritage High School who has been selected as part of the Homecoming Court! The story of her being picked for Homecoming court is actually quite unique. Harper had not campaigned, but she had a couple of friends vote for her. She also told some classmates to vote for her as a joke and she ended up being elected. She was pleasantly surprised and excited to see what comes of Homecoming. She is most enthusiastic about the pep rally, football game, and getting to walk out with her sponsor. Harper says she chose Coach Cooper to be her sponsor because “I took all three of her early childhood classes and built a relationship with her over the time I spent there.” Her sponsor is proud to be chosen as she thinks Harper is “one of the students that remind her why she chose to teach kids.”

Although Harper is well known, there is more to her than people may see. She is very involved in school. Harper is in a number of activities including BETA, FCCLA, Partners Club, softball, and track. With this busy lifestyle, she still manages to do dual enrollment and take on advanced courses. When she is not doing these things she really enjoys watching movies and being around friends. Those are just a few things some people may not have known about Harper. Overall, she is “a well-rounded student who pushes themself to be the best she can.”

Hailey Drafahl, Staff Writer
Hailey Drafahl is a 17-year-old senior attending Heritage High School. She is returning to the Journalism staff this year because she really enjoyed taking the class her Junior year. Hailey is excited for what this year of Journalism will bring. She enjoys taking challenging courses and is on a dual-enrollment schedule for her entire senior year so that she can obtain both high school and college credits for her classes. Hailey is the best parker at Heritage High School: she's been told by the principal three times to fix her parking; the people around her fear for their cars. Science is her favorite subject to take, as it is easy and interesting for her. She hopes to one day be a therapist for people and help with others' mental health. In her free time, she accomplishes deranged journeys with her friends. She also enjoys working her shifts at Subway: she is a wonderful sandwich artist and loves the people she works with. She lives with her mom, stepfather, older brother, and two younger sisters. She also has five animals in her house, including three dogs and two cats. She loves listening to music: her favorite artists are SZA, Doja Cat, Lana Del Rey, Megan Thee Stallion, and many more. Hailey is very excited to graduate this year and begin the steps towards her future.
