The 2025 Heritage Football season is approaching in the fall, and the Heritage Generals’ football program recently had an opening for a new head coach. After much consideration, Jeremy New was promoted into the big position.
As Coach New leads this season with the Generals, he’s not unfamiliar with the team. Prior to becoming the head coach, he already had coaching experience at Heritage. “I was a defensive coordinator for the last eleven years. Before that I was the offensive coordinator, and I’m also an assistant athletic director,” he explained. “It’s always been a dream of mine to be a head coach and be able to stay here.”
Coach New expressed that he wanted to win every game, but he also wanted to impact the players in a huge way by having good relationships on and off the field. Doing that, he wants to give everyone everything they need to become successful on the field, and in the classroom.
Star safety and running back Brody James said, “He’s a very strong person. When I moved here as a sophomore he welcomed me with open arms and gave me a chance.” James also added that he is very confident in the team this season, “I’m confident that this will be one of our best seasons we’ve had in a while, especially with Coach New.”
After the hunt for Heritage’s new coach concluded, athletic director Greg Elkins stated, “I knew who he was, and what he stood for. Going through the interview process like we did, I think that he was the obvious choice.” Additionally, Coach Elkins had a strong belief that Coach New would greatly impact the team by motivating each individual player to become better.
As the new season creeps closer this year holds great amounts of potential for the Generals. This is Coach New’s first year leading the team as the head coach, and they have big rival games ahead of them. But, Coach New has a good history coaching at Heritage, so do not count the Generals out. With a long track-record of multiple winning seasons, the 2025-2026 Heritage Football Season will be one to remember.
