The 2024-2025 Girls’ Basketball season was an incredible season for all coaches and players. After having multiple successful seasons, this season for the Lady Generals stood out from the others, after they reached the Elite Eight at the State Tournament. After starting the season off with a loss to Murray County, the Lady Generals came back with a four game win streak against opponents like Gordon Lee and LFO. Then they lost two in a row, one to Northwest Whitfield and Pope High School, but the Lady Generals answered back once again with a five game win streak. In this win streak, they defeated opponents such as Ridgeland and Ringgold. Unfortunately, the streak ended with another crushing defeat to Pope.

The Generals went on with an impressive seven game win streak, improving every week after defeating Ringgold and Ridgeland again. The Generals were on a roll, but it came to an end off a defeat from Calhoun and Gilmer. However, the Lady’s refused to give up. They ended the regular season, after defeating four teams in a row getting their revenge on Northwest Whitfield and Gilmer. They finished up the regular season with a 22-6 record. In the playoffs, they defeated the Cedar Grove Saints in the first round and the Chestatee War Eagles in the second. In the third round, reaching the Elite eight of the tournament, the Generals suffered a crushing defeat against the Baldwin Braves with the final score being 50-49.
When looking at how they could improve next season, freshman Paisley Collins stated, “We could improve on things like shooting, so we can hopefully make it as far as we did this season, next season.” Looking back at the season, players and fans of the Lady Generals had a lot of great memories. Junior Tori Epps reflected on her favorite moment from the season: “My favorite moment was us winning the regional tournament, we played Northwest Whitfield.” As next season gets closer by the day, the team must improve to go further in the playoffs next year. Coach Greg Elkins stated, “We had some close games throughout the season against Pope and Gilmer, so we need to execute down the stretch. We did well all season late in games, but if I had to choose one thing it would be closing out games.” As the team improves for next season, so must the coaching staff, which assistant Coach James Gribben had thoughts on. “We’re always talking and bouncing ideas back and forth off of each other about how we can get better.”
Come the end of the season, the Lady Generals overall record for this season was 24-7. This was the best record for the Generals since the 2016-2017 season where the Generals had an overall record of 25-4. In conclusion, this season gave a lot of hope to the future of the Lady Generals Basketball team, and they look forward to continuing their winning streak.
