“Slushy Noobz” is a Youtube channel made up of two best friends, Hamzah and Martin. Hamzah and Martin started gaining popularity separately on TikTok, both with over one million followers. They discovered each other on TikTok and connected from that. After growing more of a connection, Hamzah convinced Martin to move in with him from America to Canada. That’s when they formed their Youtube channel: “Slushy Noobz.” Martin also joined Hamzah’s podcast, “Out of Character.” They posted their first video together on May 30, 2023, and started building their channel from there.
After steadily gaining subscribers on their channel, now with 788k followers and many fans on TikTok, they decided to take a break. They announced it on their podcast on December 24, 2024. After being gone for all of January, they posted on their Instagram on February 4th, announcing that they will have a weigh-in on the 5th of February. They shocked all their fans, and many believed the boxing match was just a joke. With such a new, and unique way of starting back to Youtube, more people started to follow them. After the weigh in they announced the date of the actual boxing match saying it will happen on February 8th. A few days later after much anticipation, the stream showed what they did before the match, the boxing match, and announced a documentary they did called “’Slushy Noobz’ Out of Character – The Documentary.”
In their documentary, it takes you back to July 2024, showing the process behind their merch, podcast, and their overall channel. Revealing all the ups and downs that come along with this lifestyle. July 2024 is when they started training for their boxing match. Before they even started their break, they were thinking ahead, and planned out the next several months. Both Hamzah and Martin went through many struggles during their training. They needed to meet a weight goal to be able to box each other. With those goals the deadline being in February, it was difficult for both of them. At the weigh in, all their work paid off, and were within the weight range.
When the match finally began there were three rounds, both of them doing well in the ring. The judges briefly talked before it was announced that Hamzah won the match. After the fight they did an interview answering questions from their fans. With such a different way of coming back to Youtube, many people were wondering what made them choose to box each other. The reason they boxed, in Hamzah’s words, was, “Why, I’m not sure exactly, but it was just something that needed to happen.” In the end, both of them said it felt like it felt like fighting a brother, and not an enemy. If anything, they said it brought them closer together.
