The annual class registration is right around the corner, and all students need to start getting ready to pick their classes for the 2026-2027 school year. This is an important time for every student, as the classes you choose will shape your learning experience for the whole next school year, so it’s key to take this step seriously and avoid common mistakes.
Right now, the yearly course registration process is going well and without any big problems. But there is one big change this year that you need to pay close attention to, which will mostly affect upcoming sophomores. Last year, freshmen finished their class registration during their career classes, which was a small, separate process just for them. But this year, things are different; they will join the sophomores, juniors, and seniors to register together in the school theater.

Our school counselors Mrs. Canida say, “One mistake many students make every year is failing to communicate with their current teachers before attempting to register for more difficult, higher-level courses.” This mistake happens every year and can lead to delays or problems with course registration. For example, if you are currently taking regular geometry and want to move up to a more advanced math course—honors algebra—you must first talk to your geometry teacher to get their advice and approval. Some students decide on their course selections independently, which is a very common mistake that can be easily avoided with a brief conversation with their teacher.
Every year, counselors hear almost all students ask the same question: “Can I change classes even when I choose the class and don’t want to take it anymore?””What is the deadline for adding or dropping courses next semster year?” These are very common questions, and our school counselors want everyone student to know the answer clearly to prevent anyone from missing the deadline. The last day to add new courses or drop courses is April 10th 2026. After this date, the school will no longer accept any applications for course changes without exception.
Finally, regarding the grading for the 2025-2026 academic year grading, our counselor, Ms.Canida, gave a score of ⅗ for this semester year. She stated, “While this isn’t the best grade, it’s quite good overall.”
