Former Fifth Harmony member Camila Cabello has recently released her first debut solo album. It is greatly successful in capturing her unique and charismatic flair. Best known for its hit “Havana”, her self-titled album ties in her cuban heritage with vigorous music. “Havana” began as a summer promotional single and ended up being played on the radio everyday since. The twenty year old decided it was time to get out of the girl group scene and write her own music so she could express herself and establish her “true identity.” No matter the song on the album, Camila finds some way to shine in all of them. “All These Years” and “Real Friends”  give a subtle and gentle tone, yet Camila still finds a way to pour her heart and soul into the lyrics, such as “Why do I even try? Give me a reason why” from “Real Friends,” which is about Camila’s breakup with Fifth Harmony. “She Loves Control” tells the story of how Camila soured on girl group life because she couldn’t  explore her individuality. Like the Spanish version of  “Havana,” “Inside Out” shows her ability to sing in English and Spanish effortlessly, with a nice salsa beat. Just as you thought Camila couldn’t bring enough heat from Cuba, “In the Dark” gives of a trap-pop vibe, perhaps something Drake song would sound like. Other songs on the album such as no. 1 on the track list, “Never Be The Same” delivers pop perfection to listeners. All the songs on the album show that Camila has a true need for the spotlight. It seems that Camila found herself after writing her own songs and that’s all that matters.
