With spring break just around the corner, a lot of people are heading to the beach. But beware, beach goers something dangerous lurks beneath the deep blue sea! “The Meg” is an upcoming science fiction horror movie about no other than one of the most vicious creatures that lives in the ocean: a previously thought to be extinct massive monstrous shark. This fishy blockbuster arrives in cinemas on August 10, 2018. The horror and action filled movie tells the story of a deep-sea submersible that is attacked by a 75 foot shark. The submersible lies disabled at the bottom of the deepest trench in the Pacific ocean with its crew trapped. With time running out, expert deep-sea rescue diver Jonas Taylor (Jason Statham) is brought in by a Chinese oceanographer to save the whole crew from the sinister creature that lies beneath the murky water. So basically it’s like “Jaws” but escalated to a whole new level. Not to mention, the shark, the Megalodon, is at least 40 times bigger. The cast includes Jason Statham, Ruby Rose, Li Bingbing, Cliff Curtis, Robert Taylor, Rainn Wilson, and Jessica McNamee. The movie is an adaptation of Steve Alten’s 1997 novel “Meg: A Novel of Deep Terror.” A horror movie quickly becomes a sci-fi hit with director Jon Turteltaub (“The Sorcerer’s Apprentice”) and a script from Dean Georgaris, Jon Hoeber, and Erich Hoeber (“Red”). Will you decide to plunge into the crystal clear choppy waters after you have seen “The Meg?” Or will your fate be in the mouth of a monstrous shark…?
