Play season starts soon here at Heritage. This years straight play produced by the HHS Drama Club, will be W.W. Jacob’s “The Monkey’s Paw”, based on the short story. If you are unfamiliar with “The Monkey’s Paw”, it is definitely more on the horror/more depressing side of the acting spectrum, but is a marvelous play with great character developments over the course of the story. I personally am super pumped for this play because I will be playing the lead female role, Mrs. White. “The Monkey’s Paw” tells the story of an older couple in the 1920’s, Mr. and Mrs. White, who have a son named Herbert. One stormy night, when Herbert and Mr. White are playing a game of chess, and Mrs. White knits by the fire, Mr. White’s old friend Sergeant Major Morris comes over to tell the family some interesting stories, as he always does. To the White’s surprise, the story Morris plans to tell is about a monkey’s paw– a paw that grants three wishes to whomever takes it. However, these wishes have consequences, some consequences that are grimly unforgettable. When Mr. White decides to buy the paw from Sergeant Major Morris, their lives change forever. The play will have 3 shows– a parent show on April 14 and two school shows on April 19. So if you’re a fan of theatre here at Heritage and short horror plays, you will absolutely love “The Monkey’s Paw!”
