An underrated artist that needs much more attention in the music spotlight is Jhené Aiko. The 30-year-old R&B alternative singer’s album, “Trip,” has seized many top hits in the R&B music industry. Aiko has a voice of an angel, which makes easy to have top hits. “While We’re Young,” in my opinion, is one of the best songs on the “Trip” album. Jhené displays her excellent song writing skills in “While We’re Young,” and the mid-tempo reccid shows off her incredible vocal range. With lyrics such as, “I’ll go everywhere you go…you know,” it’s a song you definitely can get in your feels with, especially with the mellow beat in the background. “Never Call Me” is another great song on the album. It is also on the lofty side of the music spectrum. The viby song features Kurupt, and is basically Jhené’s song for renewal and moving on – “So let’s stop pretending we were in love…you should have called me.” “When We Love” begins with Jhené’s angelic voice humming and then you hear the first words “You’re mine and I like it,” as a mellow, tropical beat plays in the background. The whole song is beautifully structured with heartfelt lyrics, melodies, and harmonies. Speaking of harmonies, “Moments” featuring Big Sean demonstrates how rap can transform and blend into a perfect alternative R&B song. With Big Sean rapping and Jhené singing, the song is instantly a chart-breaking hit. Honestly, you could be in any mood and feel great listening to “Trip” or just anything by Jhené Aiko!
