I am sure you have heard Charlie Puth’s top hits “Attention” and “How Long” on the radio played repeatedly. In addition to these songs, Charlie has released a new song called “Done For Me” with R&B favorite Kehlani. According to Charlie, the song is chapter 3 to his album “Voice Notes” because it adds on to the stories behind “Attention” and “How Long,” which are all about being played by a girl who simply wanted attention. Although “Done for Me” is a song about being cheated on, it is one that is you definitely can dance and sing along to. “Done for Me” is a passionate rendition of what it is like to deal with unreciprocated love and someone who doesn’t treat you right. Not to mention it has a great vibe! The song starts off with a catchy beat that sounds like it would come out of an 80’s movie, such as “Can’t Buy Me Love.” Then, we hear Charlie’s whistle tone, and it’s AMAZING! The lyrics in the chorus follow soon after: “I lie for you baby/ I die for you baby/ I cry for you baby/ But tell me what you’ve done for me.” That last lyric really sticks in your head and makes you think: “Wow, how could someone hurt him so badly?” Charlie produced the song after an unsuccessful party in L.A. Although the lyrics don’t go into deep detail about Charlie’s glum evening out, you can get the hint he wasn’t happy, especially with this line in the song: “If you want to leave, there ain’t nobody stopping you.” So if you haven’t heard “Done for me” yet, go listen to it asap!
