Chattanooga State Music Department is having our very own Heritage High School Concert Choir performing Carmina Burana by Carl Orff on February 28th and March 1st. There will also be a ballet performing and interpreting the song through dance. But… what is the Chattanooga State Music Department?

It is a comprehensive music program created to meet the academic qualifications of students. The Associate of Fine Arts degree (A.F.A.) brace students for transfering to a four-year music program with the intention of pursuing a bachelor’s degree in music. Mrs. Hamilton explained that “I want them to have the experience of performing in front of a huge audience, I mean working on 71 pages of Latin and German songs is tough, and I want to show them that great things can come out of it.The kids seem to be excited about going as well, even though practice is 5:30 p.m. to 9:00, they all seem to be dancing and having fun.” Kyler Schwenk, a junior, announces “what I think is really cool is that we get to work with a college director and we get to sing with college students.”

Everyone is encouraged to support our choir in their most thrilling and time quenching performance. Mrs. Hamilton has stated that she is “excited about this opportunity that we have never had before” and she is thrilled for “all choir members” going. Meaning you should definitely check it out, plus it is free. No money equals an amazing time!
