“The Wrath and the Dawn” by Renee Ahdieh is set in a time of swords, kingdoms, rebellions, magic powers-and curses. The main character, Shahrzad, had a best friend who was murdered by the king, Khalid. This king kills each of his brides the night that they marry, using a silk cord fastened around their necks. Shazi (her nickname) decides to volunteer herself to marry the king in order to execute him to stop his treacherous crimes, but she finds herself to be the only woman who has truly caught the king’s interest. Shazi continues to live through many nights and finds that Khalid is not the man people claim him to be and finds herself falling in love with him. Shazi must deal with the pain of being in love with the man who murdered her dearest friend and also the people who wish for both her and Khalid to be dead. Will Shazi and Khalid be able to have peace and find solace in the things that have happened and what they have done?

So with that, an overall opinion is needed to let readers know if the book was truly good or not. That opinion will be based by my own, and I have to say: The book was absolutely fantastic! I love books that deal with magic, kings, and queens, and a good romance. This books gives all of those things equally and the book was all out interesting and kept me leaning over the book, anxious as to what will happen next.

If there are readers out there who love books such as this, I highly encourage them to read this book and even to read the sequel, which is also fantastic! So please, consider reading this book because I promise: it is amazing!
