Basketball, the sport of the winter, as the Heritage Generals Boys take on the Northwest Bruins, Heritage starts the game off hot with Cayden Lowrey and Blake Debity scoring the first 7 points of the game. Looking at the first quarter, everyone knew that both the Generals and Bruins were determined for this win. Heritage ended the first quarter with 12 points, and Northwest had 11.
When the 2nd quarter commenced, Northwest made a short lived comeback making their lead 23-19 until the Generals ended the half at 25-23.
In the 3rd quarter, the Generals got to work and dominated to push the lead to 47-35. In the final stretch of the game the Generals didn’t hold back; they wanted more. The Bruins did not give up though, scoring 11 points, hoping to create some breathing room for another comeback, but the Generals stood firm.
The Generals were on fire ending the game with 60-45. Everyone contributed to this game with Debity scoring 19 points, Eli Thacker with 15, Lowrey 13, Cooper Bell 11, and Noah Awotula with four.
Lowrey said “I feels like we could have done many things better, but I think we really pulled it together in the 2nd half but I believe that there is always room for improvement”. As for Noah, he says the team could’ve played a better defense not allowing the score to be as close, but also the team did a really good job at distributing the ball and making smart decisions, really scoring points from all levels of the court. Northwest played a good game, but the Generals showed them that they are not a force to be reckoned with. The Generals earned a 6 game win streak, and now their record is 12-5 overall and 6-1 in region.
