The Generals’ softball team did amazing in the Dalton tournament this past weekend with four home home runs, multiple strikeouts from pitcher Taelyn Bates, all five freshmen getting their first high school career hits, and three wins. The Generals literally knocked it out of the park.

The Generals started off the weekend with a 4-3 win against Sprayberry. The girls started off the game slow, but ended the game with tons of excitement. Taelyn Bates threw an amazing game with six strikeouts. Sydney Smith hit a two-run home run to win the game.

Early Saturday morning the Generals had a great game. They played Dade County and won 14-0. This was the Generals’ best offensive game of the weekend. Senior Shelby Hammontree had back-to-back home runs, and Morgan Parris had her first home run of the season. All five freshmen had their first high school career hits. Madi Morris did great in the circle as she only gave up one hit. There was no question who would win this game.

The Generals ended the weekend with a 3-1 win against Murray County. They overcame adversity in this game amidst inconsistent umpires and questionable calls. Taelyn Bates had another amazing game in the circle with great defense behind her. Olivia Tamewitz had an outstanding catch to keep Murray from scoring a run. Ali Roberts went 3-3 and Shelby Hammontree went 2-2. This was a great end to the weekend for the Generals, and they now sit 6-0. Way to make us proud Generals!
